Into the Deep was inspired by trips to the aquarium when my kids were really small. As my kids have gotten older, we continue to visit aquariums and zoos and learn about animals. The visits are different now- we bring less snacks and can walk much faster with taller legs. Our conversations have shifted from me saying, "Look at the big fishy!" to my kids schooling me on the exact species of fish, it's dietary habits, and geographic location. While our conversations look much different, the trips are still so memorable and there's always at least one tank exhibit that we all look upon with child-like wonder.</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><i><span> </span>Sometimes, we even get photobombed by manta rays.</i></span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6LNgAHzHFI2Iq-_C2MPpL5OoiEr3_YhRIoyQDt7Iy_GkALtYOLWLJoILBsohK-_K4aNZbhvc7M8lsL04XGKC47KKZkZqYAX0gKaSYA7f5lerIirqDO-byVj7jUBpUhRaKb0Hp-9mcMZ086_ZpNwJtzzRkKjAs75zTvGxi2tCD3IAx8uiRev7583YK-FI8/s1068/shark%20aquarium%20pattern%20inspiration%20pictures-100.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="507" data-original-width="1068" height="306" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6LNgAHzHFI2Iq-_C2MPpL5OoiEr3_YhRIoyQDt7Iy_GkALtYOLWLJoILBsohK-_K4aNZbhvc7M8lsL04XGKC47KKZkZqYAX0gKaSYA7f5lerIirqDO-byVj7jUBpUhRaKb0Hp-9mcMZ086_ZpNwJtzzRkKjAs75zTvGxi2tCD3IAx8uiRev7583YK-FI8/w640-h306/shark%20aquarium%20pattern%20inspiration%20pictures-100.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><p></p></div></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;"><span> </span>The great white shark pattern (pictured on shorts, below) makes me smile so big. This pattern was inspired by the kelp forest tank in the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I used bright colors to give it a tropical vibe. The orange fish remind me of goldfish crackers that my kids used to ask me to buy. The tiny hot pink fish in the background add a bit more whimsy to the scene.</span></span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;"><br /></span></span></p></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrzj9CxZlOIwwoFxglys0LZdUAaQuJb1FgABR8c9mrp2-XVsC9ZT_wjNUG_k4h66cmTvK5v_KGq8jQQMrFp1WoZNg4k2LWoMseC1wblCj36w-N8U6avq1SDRmwR2bILR-GjRfvSa-1OLb_bUE47pyxyBoM-FM4BrC7c5dlb5zpmgZQqVwdvjsnDv4VNNDs/s4500/kelp%20tote%20bag.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4500" data-original-width="4500" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrzj9CxZlOIwwoFxglys0LZdUAaQuJb1FgABR8c9mrp2-XVsC9ZT_wjNUG_k4h66cmTvK5v_KGq8jQQMrFp1WoZNg4k2LWoMseC1wblCj36w-N8U6avq1SDRmwR2bILR-GjRfvSa-1OLb_bUE47pyxyBoM-FM4BrC7c5dlb5zpmgZQqVwdvjsnDv4VNNDs/w640-h640/kelp%20tote%20bag.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div><span> </span></div><div><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">My very favorite pattern in this Mini Collection are the jellies! Jellyfish are always my favorite tanks to visit at the aquarium. They are so calming. I have jellyfish very similar to this print hand-painted on the walls in my bathroom. My son's first birthday was elephant themed, and I had purchased a small grey stuffed elephant for him as a gift. He loved that elephant and it stayed in his room for several years until his second little sister was born. She liked to go in his room and play with all of his 'big kid' toys. She loved to play trains and stack his blocks, but there was one toy in particular that she particularly favored. She adored that little fluffy elephant and how soft she had become after years of snuggles. She named the elephant Ellie, and Ellie soon went everywhere with that little girl. Early winter is for planning out what crops we want to grow, spring is a flurry of seed starting activity, summer is for harvesting blooms by the bucketful to share, and fall is a season of seed-saving and savoring the sweet memories from a year of hard work and beauty. Each year my kids get a little taller. At first they are about 'gladiolus high', then before I know it, they are twirling amongst the zinnias.
